The Catholic Church of Christ the King in Castle Street, Thornbury, has a large Parish, covering all the Thornbury area including Olveston and Aust, and the Berkeley area as well as the two prisons at Eastwood Park and Leyhill. Recently it has become responsible for Wotton-under-Edge parish as well.
Our Parish is served by a religious order, the Salvatorians, and the current parish priest is Father Alex McAllister who is a native of Thornbury.
From 4 September 2010, there will be a Vigil Mass in Thornbury each Saturday evening at 6pm. Thornbury Sunday Masses are at 8.30am and 11am. Each year the parishioners of Christ the King celebrate a mass at St John's Chapelry in Aust on the Feast of St Augustine of Canterbury.
Do visit the Church in Castle Street. It is open daily for quiet prayer and meditation and there is a new prayer garden with a labyrinth open to all.
